MORGAN IN THE MORNING has always been a morning person so this job is perfect for him. In fact, he credits it with keeping his marriage together for 26 years. His wife says if he was at the breakfast table everyday she’d been out of there long ago. His daughters will second that. The boy does like to talk! He started waking people up on the radio years ago when he realized that he didn’t have to sweat. And now ‘Morgan in the Morning’ enjoys misbehaving with his listeners on a daily basis. “The free coffee and internet ain’t bad either”, he says.

WADE GERSTNER is a home-grown, hard working Kansas guy who has the “perfect face” for radio! When not running the stations or being on-air with “Waterside Wakeup” or sports, Wade enjoys time with his wife and son and of course enjoys sports, including golf, tennis, and basketball. Wade just turned 22. If you believe that, then he has some oceanfront property in Arizona to sell you!!

DUSTY DEINES was born in WaKeeney, KS and raised on a farm south of town. He quickly realized that farming wasn’t his thing and developed a love for sports. He decided when he was in 7th grade that he wanted to do play-by-play broadcasting and the rest is history. After receiving a degree from Colby Community College in May of 2003, he began working at KD Country 94 and Z 96.3 in July 2003. When he’s not traveling all over the state covering high school sports, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, being involved in efforts to help the Muscular Dystrophy Association, helping with church activities and of course making as many trips as possible to Manhattan, KS to support K-State athletics.

MIKE SCHRANT is one of those guys who has spent nearly a lifetime trying to figure out what he wants to do when he grows up. He has split time as a broadcaster and educator having first worked in radio in the early 1970’s while attending junior college. The two careers are directly connected because many of the 25 years as an educator were spent teaching broadcast journalism at the high school and college levels.
Mike is married and has three adult children (no grandchildren yet) and enjoys sports, debating politics, gardening, landscaping-hauling rocks, and swapping stories with the “good old boys”.

Adrienne Brooks – Middays 9 AM-2 PM

Adrienne Brooks had always had a passion for music, current events and chitchatting with anyone walking by. So she found a way to mix them all together and somehow get paid for it. Radio! It all started at her college radio station ‘spinning’ traditional country music and she grew to love and appreciate it. Her idea of a perfect evening is a delicious Italian dinner and camping out on the couch with the family watching a great, funny movie! She wants to keep plugging away at radio because her two young daughters think their mom has a really COOL job!

Tad Svendsen – Afternoons 2-7 PM
Tad Svendsen
Tad Svendsen has been captivated by radio since receiving his first portable for Christmas as a child. He says it’s the first (and still the best) mobile communications device. He’s fastened radios to his bicycle handlebars, strung antennas through trees, and broken more radios than most people will ever own. Tad began broadcasting while still a teen at a country station in South Dakota. He’s gone on to play all kinds of music at stations across the nation, but he always comes home to Country music. It’s his job to make all of the show just as entertaining as the music he plays. Tad’s been known to spend too much money on cars and not enough on haircuts. He enjoys looking after the family farmland each summer. Tad is single but hasn’t yet given up. He lives with his border collie Grady and just about every gadget he can find. He usually has two or three radios all playing at once, and he’s still looking for the best way to attach one to his handlebars.

Penny Mitchell – Evenings 7-11 PM

Penny Mitchell grew up being utterly and completely enamored of radio BUT decided to go into nursing upon graduating from high school. The thought of going into radio never even remotely crossed her mind: She grew up never hearing a woman on the air, ever, in any capacity. In nursing school at Colorado State University/Pueblo she heard the new morning person at KILO FM and it was…a woman. And lo, the world suddenly had one less nurse and one more radio person. Penny’s parents never quite got over that. Penny’s first ever radio job was at a country station in Pueblo as the worst overnight jock in the universe. She has gratefully spent the majority of her almost-30 years in radio working with country music, which possesses the nicest artists and BEST listeners!

Don Bishop – Overnights 11 PM-5 AM
Don Bishop
Don Bishop was going to be a nuclear physicist and was always studying chemistry and physics. Then in the 6th grade his Mom and Dad bought him a radio electronics set for Christmas. It had a AM radio transmitter kit as part of the electronics set. It was 3 transistor powered. It would transmit to about the neighbors with an 18 inch antenna. Don went crazy with that radio transmitter, and strung a 180 ft wire antenna and could reach any home in a radius of three hundred yards. From that moment on he was hooked with the idea of being on a real radio station someday. At 18, he audtioned at a little day-time-only country station and got the job to help pay for college. “I don’t know if radio just pulled me in or I was just meant to belong, but here I am, still fascinated, still mesmerized.”
