Mitchell County Commission Meeting

Pretty much a routine meeting for the Mitchell County Commissioners at this morning’s meeting.

County Projects Superintendent Larry Emerson reported that progress is being made on the Plum Creek Bridge on Jasmine Trail east of Beloit. Emerson said the old bridge has been almost completely torn down and that the crew working the project is starting to set forms for the center pillars.

Emerson also reported the county’s overlay projects have been completed and those workers are now busy mowing weeds.

One other construction project of note mentioned this morning… the contract to replace sidewalks on the south side of the courthouse. The bid went to Morgan Harris and Pat Kruse at a cost of $6,160.

In other action, County Ambulance Director Ed Debesis introduced new Para-Medic Michelle Maze who will start work for the county August 15th.

Also, a visit from Ellen Anderson from the 12th Judicial District. Anderson had in tow the necessary paperwork to transfer 2012-carryover funds into the fiscal year 2013 budget. The transfer amount – $6,154.

Finally, the commissioners will have a special meeting this Thursday, August 2nd at 8:30-AM. The special session allows the commissioners to visit with the county’s auditor John Deny about any issues that may impact the building of a fiscal 2013 budget.

About Mike Schrant

Mike is one of those guys who has spent nearly a lifetime trying to figure out what he wants to do when he grows up. He has split time as a broadcaster and educator having first worked in radio in the early 1970’s while attending junior college. The two careers are directly connected because many of the 25 years as an educator were spent teaching broadcast journalism at the high school and college levels. Mike is married and has three adult children (no grandchildren yet) and enjoys sports, debating politics, gardening, landscaping-hauling rocks, and swapping stories with the "good old boys".
