With an eye on the Four-Counties Quarterly meeting that would be held in Beloit later in the day, yesterday’s Mitchell County Commission meeting took very little time – just under an hour.
During the meeting, Commissioner Mike Cooper took the opportunity to make public problems with the water heating system at the new Law Enforcement Center on the North Campus.
Cooper said it was going to cost about $28,000 to put in 2-large commercial electric water heaters and the necessary electrical support system to provide enough hot water to accommodate the needs of the laundry room and inmate shower time.
The lack of hot water right now means no prisoners can be transferred to the new facility yet. Commissioner Cooper said he was hopeful the project would be completed by the end of the week.
The county commissioners also looked at bids today for the 5-dumpsters the county uses. Hiserote Trash Service got the contract to service the dumpsters, The contract will run for 3-years. The cost to the county – $20-per dumpster, per month.
